Mr. and Mrs. Fish Visit Great Falls School!

Mr. and Mrs. Fish visited the second graders on Friday,
May 20th to teach us about life in the ocean. They were FANTASTIC and we learned so much!
Mr. and Mrs. Fish wanted to solve the mystery of what ate the clam in the closed up clam shell. The only clue was the small round hole in the shell.

They could think of four possible culprits.

Could it be the crab? No, they pry open the shell when it is a little bit open.
The crab's antennae can be used for smelling, feeling, and seeing.
The audience was spellbound!

Could it have been the starfish?

No, the starfish pulls apart the shells with its suckers. It does not make a hole in the shell.

Could it be the seagull?
No, seagulls drop the clam from the air to break the shell.
Could it be the Moon Snail?
YES! They have a tongue that has teeth on it. They drill a little hole and then spit acid on it. When the hole is big enough, they stick their tongues into the hole and SLUUUURP out the clam.

Mrs.Fish came into our classroom and taught us more about fish and echinoderms.

The board looked like this when she was done!
We all wrote something we learned on a sticky note!
We changed the morning message to "What DID we learn from Mr. and Mrs. Fish?"
